Market Segments Configuration

1. Click refresh . Any new market segments that the system finds after it assigned attributes display in the left pane.
2. Click Preview. The Attribute Assignment Preview window opens.
3. In the window, click to export to Excel and save the file. We recommend that you complete the review using the Excel file of the Preview and the Assigned Market Segments pane in G3 RMS.
4. To enlarge the Assigned Market Segments pane, click and drag the line between the two panes.
5. By default, the Assigned Market Segments pane is sorted by the Market Segment column. Click any other column to change the sort order.
6. Before you review the assigned attributes, ensure that you understand their definition. Review the market segment attributes.

G3 RMS splits market segments where it finds that the patterns of some rate codes differ significantly from others. For example, the system split CORP into two market segments. One for the rate codes whose ADR is linked to the ADR of the primary priced product. And another for rate codes that have a fixed ADR. You can recognize split market segments because their names are followed by abbreviations, such as CORP_DEF (for default, see step 6) and CORP_QYL (Qualified, Yieldable, Linked).

Note: G3 RMS only splits market segments if the splits have enough business. Therefore, you might notice a market segment that includes a rate code that you know behaves differently than the market segment. In that case, the rate code is likely too small to make a difference, so G3 RMS kept it in the market segment. See clean vs. dirty market segments. Unless you know the rate code's production will become bigger in the future, such as if it's new, don't split it and keep it in the market segment.

G3 RMS assigns the Forecast Type attribute of Demand and Wash to all market segments. Review the attributes in the Assigned Market Segments pane. If needed, change the attribute, for example, to Wash for contracted business. See Forecast Type for all options and best practices.

1. Click to unassign the attributes for a market segment.
2. Click to Apply Changes to Past and Future Data.
3. The market segment moves to the left pane.
4. Continue with your review. You assign attributes to all unassigned market segments at the end of the review. See step 7.

If G3 RMS sees in the data that a market segment's ADR follows that of the primary priced product, it assigns the Qualified Non-block Linked attribute. Change the attribute to Unqualified if the business represents public rates that anyone can book. See Unqualified Attributes for all options and best practices.

1. Filter the Excel file of the Preview by Attributes.
2. Review the segments whose attributes start with: Transient > Qualified Non-block > Linked.
3. For any that should be Unqualified, go to G3 RMS and click to unassign the attributes.
4. Click to Apply Changes to Past and Future Data.
5. The market segment moves to the left pane.
6. Continue with your review. You will assign attributes to all unassigned market segments at the end of the review. See step 7.

G3 RMS assigns the Yieldable attribute to all Transient Qualified Non-block market segments. Change the attribute if Revenue Management doesn't fully control the availability of a market segment or rate code, such as when a corporate rate code has a Last Room Availability (LRA) contract. See Qualified Attributes for all options and best practices.

1. Filter the Excel file of the Preview by Attributes.
2. Review the segments whose attributes end with Yieldable.
3. For any that should be Semi- or Non-Yieldable, go to G3 RMS and click to unassign the attributes.
4. Click to Apply Changes to Past and Future Data.
5. The market segment moves to the left pane.
6. Continue with your review. You assign attributes to all unassigned market segments at the end of the review. See step 7.

Default market segments ensure that new rate codes of a split market segment receive the correct attributes. See Purpose of default market segments for details.

1. Filter the Excel file of the Preview to view default market segments. Their name ends in _DEF, for example, CORP_DEF.
2. Verify that the attributes are correct for the majority of future rate codes in this market segment. If not, click to change the attribute for a market segment.
3. Select the correct attributes.
4. Click Assign.

Assign attributes to all segments in the left Unassigned Market Segments pane. If needed, click and drag the line between the two panes to enlarge the left one.

• If others at your property also review the market segments, you might want to track changes. Click Audit at the bottom of the page. See Details to learn about the displayed data.
• If your rate codes follow a certain naming convention, review how Attribute Assignment Rules can help save you time.

a) Market Segment Level tab

In this tab, assign attributes to clean, or mostly clean market segments, such as the small split market segments that you unassigned in step 6 because they have less than 5% of the property volume.

1. Review the Occupancy Actual value for the market segment:
   • If it is less than 5% of the total property, assign attributes at the Market Segment Level.
   • If it is more than 5%, click the toggle next to the market segment name to verify that the market segment is clean.
2. Select the checkboxes for all market segments to which you want to assign the same attributes.
3. Select Attributes. Based on common sense rules, G3 RMS limits you to valid attribute combinations. For example, G3 RMS considers all Qualified business as Fenced, so Fenced is not an option for Qualified business. And you can't change the Forecast Type of Demand and Washfor Unqualified. Point to each attribute to view its definition or refer to Market Segment Attributes.
4. Click Assign. The Assign Attributes window opens to verify your selections.
5. Click OK. The selected market segments move to the Assigned Market Segments pane. G3 RMS assigns the same attributes to future rate codes from the same market segment.

b) Rate Code Level tab

After you assigned attributes at the Market Segment Level, the Rate Code Level tab contains Original Market Segments that need to be split because they are larger than 5% of the property volume and because some rate codes need different attributes than others.

By default, the market segments are sorted by their % share of total property business, in descending order. Change the sort order by clicking any other column header. Sorting applies only to market segments, not rate codes. See Details for more information about the data displayed in this tab.

1. Click the toggle next to the Original Market Segment code to view all the included rate codes.
2. Select the checkboxes for all rate codes to which you want to assign the same attributes.
3. Select Attributes. G3 RMS limits you to valid attribute combinations. For example, G3 RMS considers all Qualified business as Fenced, so Fenced is not an option for Qualified business. And you can't change the Forecast Type of Demand and Wash for Unqualified. Point to each attribute to view its definition or refer to Market Segment Attributes.
   
4. Click Assign. The market segment is split and displays with a new name in the right pane. See Data Details for the naming convention.
5. If you are splitting the market segment for the first time, another Assign Attributes window opens. Assign attributes to its Default Market Segment. Review Understand the Purpose of Default Market Segments for more details. Select the attributes for the likely future rate codes in this segment.
6. Click Assign. The market segments display in the Assigned Market Segments pane.
7. After you assign the Default Market Segment, the Assign to default icon displays next to the original market segment name. Click it to assign the remaining rate codes to the Default Market Segment. Or repeat steps 1 to 4 to assign different attributes. If you leave any rate codes unassigned, G3 RMS places them in the associated Default Market Segment.

If you made any changes in the review, G3 RMS needs to update the Forecast Groups that are the basis for forecasting. For more information, see Forecast Groups setup.

1. Click the Forecast Group tab.
2. Click Create Forecast Groups.
3. The Forecast Groups Validation window opens. The check marks confirm that you meet the criteria for creating Forecast Groups.
4. Click Create Forecast Groups. G3 RMS starts the process, which can take a few moments.
5. When completed, a check mark means that the Forecast Group has changed or is new.
6. Click Commit FGs to commit the changed Forecast Groups. A confirmation window opens.
7. Click Yes to confirm.
8. In the window, confirm to Create Forecast Groups.
9. G3 RMS applies the changes:
   1. If you used the Unassign option during your review, G3 RMS rebuilds past data and pace. It does that for all market segments and rate codes that are impacted by the change. After the rebuild, G3 RMS creates new Forecast Groups. This can takes about an hour.
   2. If you used only the Change option, G3 RMS creates new Forecast Groups. This can take several minutes.

You can skip this step if your rate codes don't follow a naming convention. Otherwise, Attribute Assignment rules can save time.

For example, all rates of the corporate market segment CP start with the letters CL or CN. CL is used for LRA (Last Room Availability) rates that are semi-yieldable. CN is for non-LRA rates that are yieldable. Therefore, you split the CP market segment into two by assigning different attributes at the Rate Code Level.

Create two Attribute Assignment Rules, one for CL and one for CN. In the future G3 RMS assigns the appropriate attributes to all new rate codes in the CP market segment. When reservations are booked for them, G3 RMS knows if the rate code belongs to the yieldable or the semi-yieldable market segment. You don't have to assign any attributes.

1. On the Rate Code Level tab, click the Create Attribute Assignment Rule link.
2. In the Rule Parameters pane, click the Market Segment menu.
3. Select one of the Unassigned Market Segments.
4. Select the filter option for the rate code, either Contains, Ends with, or Starts with.
5. Enter the alphanumeric character(s) by which you want to filter.
6. Click Filter. The list of applicable rate codes displays. Verify that the list is correct.
7. Select Attributes. Refer to Market Segment Attributes.
8. Click Create Rule. The window closes, and a verification window opens.
9. Click OK. The selected rate codes display in the Assigned Market Segments pane. Click the toggle next to the name of the Mapped Code. The rule displays in the Rate Code column.

1. When you first access this page, you need to initialize the market segments list. Click Initialize to continue. When you return to the page, click the refresh icon . That ensures that all unassigned market segments display in the left pane.
2. Assign attributes to the market segments in each of the three tabs following the steps below.
   • Review the definitions for Market Segment Attributes.
   • You must assign attributes to at least one rate code in each Market Segment. After you have done that, no market segments display in the Group Business Level or Market Segment Level tabs.
   • Market segments are sorted by their percent share of total property business. Start with the largest market segments at the top. They have the biggest impact.
   • Select the checkbox of multiple market segments or rate codes to assign the same attributes to all.

3. The following shows the decision process for selecting the attributes.
   

   

This tab includes all group market segments, so you can assign attributes to them together. See Details for more information about the displayed data. You can't split group market segments at the Rate Code Level. At that level, G3 RMS doesn't receive data to differentiate between room and non-room revenue (for example, if a group rate includes a package or tax).

1. Select the market segments to which you want to assign group attributes. Refer to Market Segment Attributes for attribute definitions.
2. Click Assign. The Assign Attributes window opens to verify your selections.
3. Click OK. The selected market segments move to the Assigned Market Segments pane.

In this tab, assign attributes to "clean," or mostly clean market segments. See Clean vs. Dirty Market Segments to understand the difference. See Details for more information about the displayed data.

In the first two tabs, assign attributes to group business and to all clean, or mostly clean, market segments. Assign attributes to as many market segments as possible in the first two tabs. Once completed, the Rate Code Level tab contains only dirty market segments. See Clean vs. Dirty Market Segments to understand the difference. See Details for more information about the displayed data.

1. Click the toggle next to the Original Market Segment code to view all the included rate codes.
2. The link icon means that the market segment shares rate codes with other market segments. Point to the link next to a rate code to see which other market segments contain the same rate code. In most cases, the icon indicates coding issues. For example, the rate code of a reservation was changed, but the market segment was not updated.
3. Select the checkboxes for all rate codes to which you want to assign the same attributes.
4. Select Attributes. G3 RMS limits you to valid attribute combinations. For example, G3 RMS considers all Qualified business as Fenced, so Fenced is not an option for Qualified business. And you can't change the Forecast Type of Demand and Wash for Unqualified. Point to each attribute to view its definition or refer to Market Segment Attributes.
   
5. Click Assign. The market segment is split and displays with a new name in the right pane. See Data Details for the naming convention.

   Note: if your property uses Extended Stay Forecasting and if a market segment with the same attributes exists, G3 RMS asks you if you want to add this to the existing or create a new market segment. Ensure that you have different market segments for each of your extended stay products. For example, one market segments for all weekly rate codes, one for bi-weekly, and one for monthly rate codes.

6. If you are splitting the market segment for the first time, another Assign Attributes window opens. Assign attributes to its Default Market Segment. Review Understand the Purpose of Default Market Segments for more details. Select the most likely attributes for those future rate codes.
7. Click Assign. The market segments display in the Assigned Market Segments pane.
8. After you assign the Default Market Segment, click assign after the market segment. That assigns the remaining rate codes to the Default Market Segment. If you leave any rate codes unassigned, G3 RMS places them in the associated Default Market Segment.

Attribute Assignment rules can save time if your rate codes follow a certain naming convention.

For example, all rates of the corporate market segment CP start with the letters CL or CN. CL is used for LRA (Last Room Availability) rates that are semi-yieldable. CN is for non-LRA rates that are yieldable. Therefore, you split the CP market segment into two by assigning different attributes at the Rate Code Level. Without the Attribute Assignment Rule, you need to manually select all rate codes and assign the appropriate attributes. Instead, create two Attribute Assignment Rules. G3 RMS assigns the appropriate attributes to all rate codes that start with the letters CL and CN.

This functionality also helps you in the future when you create new rate codes in the CP market segment. When reservations are booked for them, G3 RMS knows if the rate code belongs to the yieldable or the semi-yieldable market segment. You don't have to assign any attributes.

1. On the Rate Code Level tab, click the Create Attribute Assignment Rule link.
2. In the Rule Parameters pane, click the Market Segment menu.
3. Select one of the Unassigned Market Segments.
4. Select the filter option for the rate code, either Contains, Ends with, or Starts with.
5. Enter the alphanumeric character(s) by which you want to filter.
6. Click Filter. The list of applicable rate codes displays. Verify that the list is correct.
7. Select Attributes. Refer to Market Segment Attributes.
8. Click Create Rule. The window closes, and a verification window opens.
9. Click OK. The selected rate codes display in the Assigned Market Segments pane. Click the triangle icon next to the name of the Mapped Code. The rule displays in the Rate Code column.

Review your attribution before you click Finalize. See Finalize for why this is important. Focus on the market segments with a large share of your business. Those have the biggest impact.

The Equal to BAR attribute directly impacts the pricing decisions. Only use it for business that is booked at the value of BAR. Don't use it for discounted business, such as advance purchase rates.

1. Click Preview, then export the data by clicking the Excel icon . Sort and filter the data, for example, to view all qualified yieldable market segments at once. Use the preview to make sure that each market segment shows the correct attributes. And ensure that their ADR and % share information match your expectations.
2. Run the Market Segment Mapping Report in the Excel format. Sort and filter the data to verify that rate codes are assigned to the correct market segments. Then sort by attributed market segments. Verify that they contain only rate codes with the same behavior.
3. If you need to fix mistakes:
• Click Edit for minor changes, such as to change the Forecast Type attributes from Demand and Wash to only Wash or None. Or for an attribute change for a small market segment.
• Click Unassign for other changes. The market segment moves to the left Unassigned Market Segments panel where you can assign new attributes.
4. If several people at your property work in Market Segment setup, you might want to track changes. Click Audit in the bottom, right corner of the page. See Details to learn about the displayed data.

Click Finalize only after you complete and review the assigned attributes. You can only click this button once. It is available only after you map at least one rate code for every market segment. In other words, no market segments remain in the Group Business Level or Market Segment Level tabs.

Clicking Finalize means that you want IDeaS to load transactional data (like the rate code in a reservation) in G3 RMS, based on your attributed market segments.

After the loading step completes, you can see the new market segments in the right pane of the Forecast Groups tab. You can also see past and future booking data in G3 RMS modules.

After IDeaS loads the data, you set up other areas in G3 RMS:

• Room Classes
• Rate Plans
• Rate Shopping

Once you complete these setup tasks and IDeaS tells you to go ahead, continue to the last step. Use the Forecast Groups tab to create and commit the Forecast Groups. The result is the system's first forecast.

A new market segment was created and needs attributes. You receive an Unassigned Market Segment Alert if this occurs.

1. Follow the Alert link to the Market Segments tab.
2. Select the market segment and assign attributes. See the detailed steps here.
3. Click Assign.
4. Click the Forecast Groups tab.
5. Click Create Forecast Groups. The updated Forecast Group is flagged with a green check mark .
6. Click Commit FGs to commit the changed Forecast Groups. A confirmation window opens.
7. Click Yes to confirm.

If you create a new rate code for a clean market segment (that you attributed at the Market Segment Level), you don't need to update anything. After G3 RMS gets the first reservation, it uses the attributes of the existing market segment. The same applies to a rate code that falls under an Attribute Assignment Rule.

The steps differ when a new rate codes belongs to a split market segment (that you attributed at the Rate Code Level). Unless you set up an Attribute Assignment Rule, G3 RMS can't know which attributes to use.

1. The property gets an Unassigned Rate Code Alert for the new rate code. Follow the link in the Alert to the Market Segments tab.
2. Click Refresh.
3. Click the toggle next to the Original Market Segment name to open it and review the rate code.
4. Select and assign attributes to the new rate code, using the below decision process:

   

5. Click the Forecast Groups tab.
6. Click Create Forecast Groups. The updated Forecast Group is flagged with a green check mark .
7. Click Commit FGs to commit the changed Forecast Groups. A confirmation window opens.
8. Click Yes to confirm. Note that if you don’t commit the Forecast Groups, the rate code reverts to unassigned in the next processing.
   G3 RMS starts an optimization and goes into Read Only mode

1. Click Unassign.
2. The Unassign Attributes window opens. Your steps depend on the reason for the change:
   1. Incorrect attributes or a big change in the attributes:
      • The assigned attribute of a clean or split market segment is incorrect.
      • A corporate rate with high production, roughly more than 2% of the total property business, changes from Fixed and Yieldable to Linked to BAR and Semi-Yieldable. In such case, it's better to link the rate to the history (even if it's not a perfect match in behavior) than for G3 RMS not to have any history to use for forecasts. Select Apply Changes to Past and Future Data. The market segment moves to the left pane.
      • If you don't see two options for how to apply the changes, your reservation system doesn't support a rebuild in G3 RMS. In that case, the RMS applies changes to future dates only. If you made an attribute mistake and the impacted market segments contain more than 2% of total property production, contact IDeaS. We review the impact and suggest how to correct the mistake.
   2. A change in Forecast Type attributes from Demand and Wash to only Wash or None. Or an attribute change for a small market segment. Select Apply Changes to Future Data Only. The market segment moves to the left pane.
3. Assign the correct attribute.
4. Click the Forecast Group tab.
5. Click Create Forecast Groups.
6. In the window, confirm to Create Forecast Groups.
7. G3 RMS applies the changes:
   1. If you applied the changes to future data only, the system updates the attributes for future dates only. Your forecasts and decisions might change.
   2. If you selected to Apply Changes to Past and Future Data, G3 RMS rebuilds past data and pace. It does that for all market segments and rate codes that are impacted by the change. The rebuild lasts about an hour.
8. If you selected a rebuild, review the possible impacts: 
   1. Your forecasts and decisions might change.
   2. In reports and dashboards, the Pace for Same Time Last Year (STLY) is rebuilt for all impacted segments. For details on the impact on the STLY values, see Pace Built from History.
   3. G3 RMS deletes Demand Overrides for impacted Forecast Groups. Overrides of pricing and overbooking are not impacted.
   4. The system removes Group Evaluations if a market segment is no longer classified as group.

To achieve the best possible forecasts and decisions, G3 RMS forecasts different types of business differently. For example, a fixed-priced market segment has a very different ADR forecast than one that is derived off another rate code. But the system doesn't use your market segments for forecasting because they often have low volumes of booking data, which leads to higher uncertainty in forecasts.

Instead, G3 RMS combines market segments with similar characteristics and patterns into Forecast Groups. To find such similar segments, G3 RMS analyzes a market segment's pattern and detects some its characteristics. And you either review or assign attributes to a market segment. For example, whether it's fixed-priced or not.

Together, you and the system convert the original market segments imported from your reservation system into Forecast Groups with enough booking data and thus low uncertainty. G3 RMS then uses these Forecast Groups, along with Room Classes, to create the best possible forecasts and decisions.

• Know what type of business your market segments contain, for example, if a segment is fixed-priced or derived off a rate code. If needed, learn about your market segments, for example, corporate texts or the reservation system might have that information.
• Become familiar with the attributes that G3 RMS uses to define business.

Clean market segments contain business with the same characteristics and patterns. In other words, one set of attributes assigned at the market segment level describes the majority of business in them. A dirty market segment has rate codes with different characteristics.

Clean market segments help G3 RMS produce better forecasts due to their lower uncertainty. They also lead to better decisions because G3 RMS can treat business with different behaviors differently in its optimization. For an example, view the video in the Resources on the right.

Therefore you split market segments that are dirty and large into clean ones by assigning attributes at the rate code level.

Typically, no market segment is 100% clean, for these reasons:

• Mislabeling. For example, a guest books a BAR reservation, but at check-in requests a corporate rate. The agent changes the rate, but does not update the market segment. If the mistake is not corrected, G3 RMS shows one corporate rate booking in the BAR market segment.
• Misfits. Even without mistakes, market segments may contain one or two small rate codes with different behavior or patterns. These rate codes may not have a perfect market segment match and are placed in the closest fit.

If mislabeled or misfit rate codes make up only a small portion of a market segment or if a market segment is very small, G3 RMS can handle it. It detects the appropriate patterns and filters out those few rate codes with different patterns.

A market segment is clean enough and you should attributes at the market segment, not the rate code, level if:

• The rate code contains less than 1% of the total property business, or
• Its market segment contains less than 5% of the total property.

Note: G3 RMS warns you when you assign attributes at a very low level. If G3 RMS assigns your attributes, it follows similar rules.

Assigning attributes at the rate code level to fix every mistake has downsides:

• It makes the setup work more complex and longer.
• It leads to more market segments and likely more Forecast Groups. You work at the Forecast Group level, thus your work takes longer.
• More market segments and Forecast Groups means less data in each, making forecasts more difficult.

G3 RMS creates a Default Market Segment for each split market segment, in other words, whenever attributes are assigned at the rate code level. For example, the CORP market segment is split into CORP_QY and CORP_QS . The system calls the default one CORP_DEF.

For that default market segment, the system assigns the same attributes as the largest split one has. For example, if CORP_QY is has more revenue than _QS, then _DEF has the QY attributes. When you split a new market segment you assign the attributes to _DEF. If you leave any rate codes of the split market segment unassigned, G3 RMS adds them to the _DEF market segment. You can also click the assign icon after the market segment to assign rate codes manually to _DEF.

G3 RMS places a new rate code that belongs to a split market segment in its Default Market Segment. That is because G3 RMS:

• Can't know the new rate code's attributes and thus into which of the split segments it belongs.

• Must assign bookings with a new rate code to a market segment as soon as it gets them.

Clean market segments (if you assigned attributes at the Market Segment Level) don't require a Default Market Segment. For these, G3 RMS assigns the same attributes to all new rate codes. And if an Attribute Assignment Rule covers the new rate code, G3 RMS uses that rule to assign attributes.

Let's say that you have a new rate code that belongs to a market segment, CORPX. CORPX is split at the Rate Code Level into two market segments. One contains rate codes that are linked to BAR (CORPX_QYL). The other contains rate codes that are fixed and not linked to BAR (CORPX_QY).

G3 RMS doesn't know whether the new rate code is linked to BAR and belongs to CORPX_QYL or not linked to BAR and belongs to CORPX_QY. Therefore, G3 RMS assigns all bookings for the new rate code to the Default Market Segment, CORPX_DEF.

G3 RMS also creates an Unassigned Rate Code Alert for you. Follow the Alert links and assign attributes to the new rate code. When you're done, any new bookings for it go into the correct market segment. All previous bookings remain in the Default Market Segment. To decide how to assign attributes to Default Market Segments, ask yourself what rate codes you will create for it in the future. In our example, are future rate codes more likely to belong to CORPX_QYL or CORPX_QY?

Note that you need to create and commit Forecast Groups for the Default Market Segment. To do this, you receive an Unassigned Market Segment Alert. Follow the links in the Alert. The Alerts arrive with the first booking for the Default Market Segment. That means that you might receive them right away, or they might come later. Either way, act on the Alerts as soon as possible.

The data for the Original Market Segments (like Occupancy Actual and Revenue Actual) comes from your Reservation System The primary reservation system, like a PMS or CRS, that provides data to G3 RMS. The data from that one system is used by the RMS to forecast, optimize and produce controls. The controls are sent to all selling systems, which for some integrations may exclude the reservation system., but you can't directly compare the numbers. That is because:

• G3 RMS cleans up some data, like Share reservations, causing discrepancies between the systems.
• The Block and Pick Up data from the block header in your reservation system doesn't reflect market segment changes in individual reservations. For example, your Sales department books GroupXYZ with a block of 10 rooms for 1 night under the market segment MS1. When the individual reservations get booked, 5 of them are mislabeled to market segment MS2. The other 5 keep the correct MS1. After the group checks out, the block header shows 10 room nights under MS1, even though 5 reservations are under MS2. If that is the only group booked under the MS1 market segment, Pick Up data shows 10 rooms as well.

There are two reasons for 0 (zero) values in the Unassigned Market Segment pane and in the Preview:

• Discontinued Market Segments that you didn't deactivate in your PMS. Such market segments display even though no reservations exist for them. These market segments appear in reservation system summary level data, and G3 RMS sees summary level data. Without room nights or revenue, such market segments have no impact on forecasts and decisions. But they display in reports and dashboards and make monitoring G3 RMS harder. Therefore, we recommend that you deactivate them in your reservation system. Then contact IDeaS so we remove them from the historical data before you begin assigning market segment attributes.

Some market segments might contain business with a blank rate code. These are from bookings that have a market segment, but not a rate code or a block code. Assigning attributes to this business is likely difficult. You should see very little business attached to it since it means mislabeled business.

To find all market segments that contain blank reservations, use the Business Insights Dashboard. Select the Occupancy On Books for the Not Available rate code.

• What if you made changes to your market segments, and G3 RMS lists both the old and the new market segment? If the only change is a different name, make sure both have the same attributes and end up in the same Forecast Group.

• What if you changed your market segment structure, for example, splitting one old market segment into two new ones? In that case, the attributes likely differ between the old and new ones.

• When you compare the Occupancy Actual in the Market Segment Level tab against the Pick Up in the Group Business tab for the same market segment, the values don't match.
  That's because the Occupancy Actual data comes from the individual reservations, and Pick Up data from the block header. And changes in market segments to individual reservations don't impact the block header data. For details, see the second example under source of the original market segment data.

• Some group market segments appear in the Market Segment Level tab but not in the Group Business Level tab. This can be due to changes in your market segment structure like in the following example:
  One year ago, you changed the group market segment XYZ to an inactive status in your reservation system. Since then, you replaced it with the new market segment GRP which displays in the Group Business Level tab. But G3 RMS doesn't receive group block header data for inactive market segments, thus XYZ business doesn't appear in the Group Business Level tab. But the Market Segment Level tab gets summary level data, so you see the XYZ market segment listed in that tab. Assign attributes to it there.
