Supplements
Supplements are non-room elements, such as breakfast, that are included in the price of your primary priced product Main pricing decision that G3 RMS optimizes. Usually this is the lowest non-restricted product with flexible cancellation policy that anyone can book. The default name is Best Available Rate (BAR), but you can change it in Pricing Configuration.
What Help Do You Need with Supplements?
-
I want to learn about the Best Practices for how to use supplements.
-
I need to see scenarios for how G3 RMS uses Supplements and Offsets to calculate the Final Price.
-
I need an overview on how to share my price strategy with G3 RMS in Pricing Configuration.
Setup Steps
When you change existing supplement values, the changes take effect for all future pricing decisions after the next processing. And changing existing or setting up the initial supplements impacts the suggested Ceiling/Floor values. Thus, update supplements first, then ask the system to suggest new Ceiling/Floor values.

- Click
, then Decisions, and then Pricing.
- Click to edit
the product.
- Click the Supplements tab.

Enter a new or edit an existing supplement value for each room type, occupancy type and day of the week combination. If you have many room types, use the Room Class Search to jump to the one that you want to change:
- Select a Supplement Method:
- Fixed: G3 RMS uses the specific supplement value that you enter.
- Percentage: G3 RMS calculates the supplement as a percentage of the Optimal Price.
- Enter the supplement cost in the Value field. The cost populates each day of the week.
- Press the Tab key to navigate to each day of the week to edit the cost, if needed.
- Click Save.
- Review that your setup is correct. If necessary, click the Export to Excel
icon and review on a spreadsheet.

- Click Add
in the Seasons pane.
- Add a Name. You can refer to this name later if you need to copy a season to create another.
- Type or select the Start Date for the season. The Start Date must be greater than or equal to the System Date.
- Type or select the End Date for the season. The End Date can be any future date and is not limited by the forecast window.
- Select the Supplement Method, Fixed or Percent.
- Enter the supplement value for each room type, occupancy type and day of the week. You can also Copy From the values of an existing season or the default.
- Enter the supplement cost in the Value field. The cost populates each day of the week.
- Press the Tab key to navigate to each day of the week to edit the cost, if needed.
- Click Apply.
- Repeat the steps to add additional seasons, as needed.
- Click Save.

If you add seasons that lead to overlapping dates, G3 RMS follows these rules:
- If you add a new season in the middle of an existing season, G3 RMS splits the existing season into two seasons, one before the new season and one after the new season. These two have the values of the original season. The new season has the new values.
- If you add a new season that partially overlaps (later start date, same end date as existing season), two seasons result. The new season and its values apply to the overlapping dates.
- If you add a new season that includes all the dates of an existing season, the new season takes over and its values replace those of the existing season.

- Click Edit
for the season that you want to edit.
- Change the Season Name, if needed.
- Type or select a new Start Date for the season, if needed. To be changed, the Start Date must be greater than or equal to the System Date.
- Type or select a new End Date for the season, if needed. The End Date can be any future date and is not limited by the forecast window.
- Type new supplement values for the required room type, occupancy type and day of the week, as needed
- Click Apply.

You can completely delete a future season (with a Start Date after the System Date). When you delete a current season, G3 RMS splits the season and deletes only future dates. You can't delete past seasons. G3 RMS deletes past seasons based on the data retention policy.
- Click Delete
for the season that you want to delete.
- Click OK.
- Click Save.
Best Practices
Set up Supplements Only Where Needed
You are not required to set up supplements for all room types. For any room type, occupancy type or day of week that does not include supplements, keep the default supplement value as 0.00. You also have the option of adding in a supplement cost just for a specific season.
The price for rooms only, without the added cost of supplements, displays as Rooms Only BAR in Pricing.
Include Taxes
If you are in a country with Tax-Inclusive Pricing Tax-inclusive pricing applies in countries where quoted and booked prices have to include taxes like a Value-Added Tax (VAT) or Goods and Services Tax (GST). If you are not in a country with tax-inclusive pricing, taxes are added to pricing only at the point of payment.
In G3 RMS, tax-inclusive pricing is enabled and configured in Property Specific Configuration., enter Supplements inclusive of tax. This applies to all pricing setup values. View Entering and Display of Taxes in G3 RMS for more information. The tax for Supplements is only broken out by your PMS, but not by G3 RMS.
Include Supplements in Pricing Values
When you set up Ceiling/Floor, enter the values inclusive of the single occupancy supplement. You also enter Specific pricing overrides as the final price, including the cost of the single occupancy supplement. G3 RMS sends your price override to your Selling System Any distribution system, like a PMS, CRS or a Channel Manager, that is used to sell your transient guest room inventory. Ideally, G3 RMS sends all controls to your selling systems, but this may vary based on their capabilities. For some integrations, the selling systems may not include the reservation system that provides with data..
Exclude Supplements from Offsets and Minimum Price Differentials
Exclude the cost of supplements when you enter Offsets.
Know the Impact of Changing Supplement Values
If you change the supplement values, G3 RMS ignores the Minimum Change Value and updates and sends any pricing decisions that changed as a result of the new pricing setup .
Scenarios for Pricing Calculations
Supplements are set up for each room type, occupancy type, and day of week. To determine the pricing decision, G3 RMS adds supplement and Offset values to the Optimal Price. Unlike offsets, supplement values for each occupancy type are added individually, not cumulative on top of the single occupancy value. Rounding the pricing decision also applies if you set up Rounding Rules.
See the Pricing Overview for details on how G3 RMS calculates Final Price, considering rounding rules, offsets, supplements, and minimum change.
In the example below, the hotel charges the same price for single and double occupancy for all room types. They also add a charge for each extra adult and an extra breakfast charge per adult, but a child breakfast is free. For simplicity, extra child does not display in the example below, but it works the same as extra adult.
Room Type | Optimal Price |
Occupancy Type | Offsets | Supplement | Price before Rounding |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
STKG ![]() |
199 | Single |
Not applicable |
10 |
199 + 10 Single Supplement = 209 If you use Percent instead of Fixed Supplement Method: |
Double | 0 | 20 | 199 + 0 Double Offset + 20 Double Supplement = 219 | ||
Extra Adult | 30 | 10 |
30 Extra Adult Price + 10 Extra Adult Supplement = 40 The selling system calculates the price for a room by adding this value for each additional adult. |

STDD (priced 20 above STKG) | Not applicable | Single | 20 |

199 + 20 Single Offset + 10 Single Supplement = 229 |
Double | 0 | 20 | 199 + 20 Single Offset + 0 Double Offset + 20 Double Supplement = 239 | ||
Extra Adult | 30 | 10 |
30 Extra Adult Price + 10 Extra Adult Supplement = 40. G3 RMS sends the extra adult value to the selling systems, and they calculate the rate for triple, quadruple, etc. occupancy. |
