Channel Settings

G3 RMS uses all channels to measure your competitors' impact on your demand and your pricing. Use the Channel Settings tab to manage how channels display and their use for Competitive Market Position Constraints. For an overview, review all steps and the benefits of Rate Shopping setup.

Default Channel Settings

Default Channel Settings serve two purposes:

  • For all properties the default controls the channel whose rate shopping data displays on calendars and in reports where only a single competitive rate can be displayed.
  • If you are using Competitive Market Position Constraints, G3 RMS only considers competitive rate information from the channel that you select here.

If needed, vary the default channel by day of the week. For example, some competitors might sell via Expedia only on the weekends. In that case, you might select the Global Distribution System for weekdays and Expedia for weekends.

Click the Add Season link if you want to override the default channel for a few exceptional days in the year. For example, the default channel might not provide reliable rate shopping data during a season because some competitors limit inventory to only one channel over a high demand period. The link changes to Update Season after you create seasons.

Data Details

Column Description
Channel Name

G3 RMS displays the channels from which it receives rate shopping data.

A icon next to the channel's name indicates that G3 RMS detected a new channel.

You will receive an Alert about new channels. To activate new channels and resolve the Alert, click the link in the Alert to go to Channel Settings. Clicking the link will activate the channel. If you notice the "New" label before resolving the Alert, saving any change to the channel setup will activate it.

If needed, update the Default Channel Settings to include the new channel, if it is needed for any day of week.

Display Name In this field, you can change the channel name to be shorter or more intuitive. The name will display where channel information is available in G3 RMS, for example, in Competitor Details in Pricing Management.
Used for Display

Select the checkbox for channels that you want available in the Default Channel Settings menus.

Created On The date when the channel data was first available in G3 RMS. This information helps differentiate old from new data and may be helpful when your property changes rate shopping vendors.
Action

Click the delete icon to delete a channel from Rate Shopping setup. For example, you may no longer want the channel's data to display because it is no longer shopped. Deleting the channel entirely removes its data from G3 RMS.

The deletion process may take an hour or more to complete. While the process is running, G3 RMS cannot run a daily or business day end processing. You also cannot make other Rate Shopping setup changes, run What Ifs, run Group Pricing Evaluations, or complete Mass BAR uploads. We recommend that you delete a channel only when you are not actively using G3 RMS and not before a scheduled processing.
