Business Analysis Pace Data
The Pace Data tab helps you compare the current year to last year's pace for up to 330 days. You can view pace for occupancy and either ADR or revenue. The booking pace curve shows the number of rooms and how that number changes as the arrival day approaches. The graph is similar to the one in the At a Glance dashboard but offers more options:
- Adjust the monitored period to more or less than a full month.
- Drill down from the property level, for example by Forecast Group.
- Compare to last year's data for the same days of the week (not the same calendar dates).
- Compare multiple booking curves, for example, reviewing the booking pace for three Forecast Groups at once.

View by Inventory Group
If you set up Inventory Groups, you can select one to see the data only for its defined Room Classes. The default selection is Property, or all Room Classes. You can change the default selection in Preferences.
Remove Excluded Segments
Select the Remove Excluded Segments checkbox if you want the metrics to exclude business from specific market segments. This option is available if you defined the excluded market segments in Manage Property Information. And if you use Inventory Groups, you must select the Property level.

- Change the monitored period, for example, the upcoming month of April. See how to use the period filter.
- Select how many Days to Arrival you want to view pace. For example, to view 90 days of pace for April.
Note: with these selections, to see any current pace for April, April 1 must less than 90 days from today. - Occupancy pace displays by default. Select to add either ADR or Revenue.
- Click the filter icon
to set filters for the displayed data, as needed. Property is selected as the default level. To view data at a more granular level, select either Business Types, Forecast Groups, Market Segments or Business Views.
- If you compare more than a handful of data points, each with a pace curve for current, past year and forecast, the graph may look confusing. To hide any of the curves, click its colored square icon in the legend below the chart. Click the same square icon again to restore the curve.

To read the booking pace curve, work from left to right. On the x-axis you see the curve starts at the selected number of Days to Arrival, measured from the beginning of the selected period. For example, today is the first of the month, and you select 60 Days to Arrival and the full next month to monitor. G3 RMS displays the current year booking pace curve from 60 days to arrival to about 30 days to arrival. At about 30 days to arrival, the curve ends at the black vertical line that indicates the System Date.
The curve reaches zero days to arrival when the System Date is past the start date of the monitored period. The Days to Arrival then shows negative values, meaning the occupancy values contain both actual occupancy (for past days) and on books occupancy (for future days). The number of days to arrival with negative values depends on the length of your monitored period.
The y-axis displays the occupancy expressed in number of rooms. Point to the pace or forecast curve to see the exact occupancy value for the corresponding number of days to arrival.
Best Practices
Limit the Number of Data Points
If you compare more than a handful of data points, each with a pace curve for current, past year and forecast, the graph may look confusing. To hide any of the curves, click its colored square icon in the legend below the chart.
Compare Pace Against STLY as an Indication
The actual pick-up compared to the system's pace expectation is a significant factor when G3 RMS forecasts demand. Using Pace Data can help you understand the Remaining Demand. However, there are limits to what you can learn from it. For the expected pace, the system uses all available data, not just last year's, and it weighs whether recent past or previous years are more suitable. And you can't view the system's expected pace, so compare pace against STLY as an indication. See How G3 RMS Calculates the Unconstrained Demand Forecast for more information.
Scenarios for Data Discrepancies
If you have questions about differences in the data between G3 RMS and other systems, review one of the following topics:
Missing Last Year's Booking Pace
This scenario applies if you're in your first year of system implementation, and your reservation system provides incomplete historical data. When that occurs, last year's pace looks like a blue triangle with a straight line from zero days to arrival to the final occupancy for the monitored period. For more information, review Pace Data Missing for Last Year.
Data Differences between Reporting Levels
If you have questions about variations in data between different levels, for example, between the property and Forecast Group levels or pickup between rate code market segment level, see Data Level Differences.
Pace Data Differs between G3 RMS and Daily Extracts
If you find data variations between same time last year (STLY) in G3 RMS and other systems, see Pace Differences.
Pace Data Differs between IDeaS Systems
If you're transitioning from IDeaS RMS to G3 RMS, review Pace Differences between IDeaS Systems.
