Best Practices
Remove Unnecessary Competitors
The chart includes all your mapped competitors for which G3 RMS receives both rate shopping and reputation data. The set includes those that you chose to ignore in Ignore Competitor Data for the selected period. If you want to remove these competitors from the display, click their name in the legend.
Review Periods Longer Than Two Weeks
Avoid reviewing the chart for date ranges of less than two weeks. Shorter date ranges are heavily influenced by outliers, which could lead to invalid conclusions of your market position over time.
Ensure G3 RMS Receives Competitor Data
If there is no rate shopping or reputation data available for a competitor for a date or date range, the competitor does not display in the chart. A rate shopping competitor also does not display if it does not have a reputation management competitor mapped against it in Competitor Mapping – Reputation.
Scenarios
Use the Reputation Quadrant to do the following:
Understand the Averages
Use the Reputation Quadrant to understand the average reputation score and average rate for you and your competitors for the period.
Check Your Competitive Position
Use the chart to see how your property is positioned in relation to your competitors for average reputation and average rate.
Verify Your Pricing
Verify if your prices align with your guests' perception of your hotel's value. For example:
- If your property falls into the top left quadrant, your online reviews and ratings are not aligned with your rates.
- If your property falls into the bottom right quadrant, you might have an opportunity to align your rates with your higher reputation score.
Validate Your Competitive Set
Competitors that consistently display as outliers may not be true competitors and may need to be excluded from use in the system.
