Multiday Overbooking or Cost of Walk Overrides

G3 RMS offers a Multiday Overrides option when you need to override overbooking or cost of walk for more than just one day at a time, at the property or room type level.

What Help Do You Need With Multiday Overbooking or Cost of Walk Overrides?

  • I need to view the steps to override overbooking or cost of walk for a longer date range.

  • Overbooking can have unintended consequences. Show me the best practices before overriding.

  • Multiday overrides have a large impact so I want to test their impact before saving them by running a What If.

  • I need to limit overbooking by day of week for all future dates with Ceiling Defaults.

Override Steps

  1. Click and then Overbooking.
    The Overbooking Management calendar displays the overbooking decision and the occupancy forecast. Learn how to change your calendar view.
  2. Navigate to the month in the calendar view that contains the dates for the override.
  3. Click Multiday Overrides.
    The Multiday Overrides window displays.
  4. Select the Start Date and End Date for the override. Your date range selection is limited to the two months that are visible on the calendar.
  5. Select the days of the week to which you want to add or remove overrides.
  1. Select an overbooking type and enter the number of rooms that the system is allowed to overbook for the property or the room type:
    • Ceiling: Set the maximum number of rooms that G3 RMS can overbook for the period. This type of override still allows the system to optimize the overbooking decision within the upper limit.
    • Value: Overbook by a specific number of rooms for the period at the property level. This type of override forces G3 RMS to use that value instead of its own optimal decision, until you change or remove the override.
    • No Ceiling: G3 RMS sets the overall property or room type overbooking for the period, up to its calculated optimal amount.
  2. Click the notes icon to explain why you enter the override. This helps during your regular reviews of your overrides. This icon indicates that a note exists.
  3. Click Apply. The unsaved changes icon in the calendar indicate dates with overrides that you must save or cancel.
  4. Click What If to see the impact of your override. See What If for details.
  5. Click Save to finalize the multiday overrides.
    Override icons (depending on the type:, or ) replace the unsaved changes icons.The impact on the forecast and other decisions is calculated and automatically sent to your selling systemin the next Processing.

To limit overbooking, we recommend that you apply Ceiling instead of Value overbooking overrides whenever possible to allow G3 RMS to adjust its decision as the conditions change, for example when the system expects less wash as the override date approaches.

  1. Enter a new cost of walk value for a room type in the User column.
  2. Click Apply. The unsaved changes icon in the calendar indicate dates with overrides that you must save or cancel. The What If and Save buttons become enabled.
  3. Click What If to see the results of your override before saving. For more information, see What If.
  4. Click Save to finalize the overrides. The impact on forecasts and other decisions is not calculated until the next optimization cycle. Changes to decisions are automatically sent to your selling systems in the next optimization.

To see what level the override applies to, use the Business Analysis Dashboard or change your calendar view on Overbooking Management.

  1. In the Action column for the property or room type row where the override exists, click the remove icon.
  2. Click Apply. The unsaved changes icon in the calendar indicates the dates where you want to remove overrides.
  3. Click What If to test the impact of removing the override. See What If for details.
  4. Click Save to finalize the override removal. The icons are removed.

Data Description
Room Type The name of the room type.
Room Class The Room Class to which you have mapped each room type.
Overbooking Override Type

The overbooking type and number of rooms that the system is allowed to overbook for the property or the room type.

  • Ceiling: The maximum number of rooms that G3 RMS can overbook for the period. This type of override still allows the system to optimize the overbooking decision within the upper limit.
  • Value: The specific number of rooms for the period at the property level. This type of override forces G3 RMS to use that value instead of its own optimal decision, until you change or remove the override.
  • No Ceiling: G3 RMS sets the overall property or room type overbooking for the period, up to its calculated optimal amount.
Cost of Walk Override (at room type level only) User The override value for the cost of walk, for the date and room type. The value overrides the default cost of walk value that you set up in Cost of Walk Configuration.
Action

Click the remove icon for the property or room type if you want to delete its overrides for the date. Click the unsaved changes icon to revert a pending override.
