Offsets

In an evaluation, G3 RMS picks the Recommended Rate for guest rooms from the price range that you set up in the Ceiling/Floor tab. The system calculates the recommended rate for the Base Room Type of each Room Class. In the Offsets tab, you define how much the recommended rate for non-Base Room Types differs from the recommended rate of the Base Room Type. G3 RMS uses offsets only for Room Class, not for Run-of-House, evaluations.

See examples in Scenarios for Calculating the Group Rate below.

Setup Steps

Accessing Offsets

  1. Click and then Configuration.
  2. Click Offsets.

Adding and Editing Offsets

  1. For each room type in a Room Class, select an Offset Method:
    • Fixed: G3 RMS adds the offset value to the Base Room Type price.
    • Percentage: G3 RMS calculates the offset as a percentage of the Base Room Type price.
  2. Enter the offset value for each room type and day of the week combination:
    1. Enter the offset value in the first field. The value populates each day of the week.
    2. Press the Tab key to navigate to each day of the week to edit each value, if needed.
  3. Click Save.

Setting Up Offsets by Season

After you define your default offset setup, you can create optional seasons that override the default values. For example, during your high demand season, you may want higher offsets than you have set up than the rest of the year.

  1. Click Add in the Seasons pane.
  2. Add a Season Name. You can refer to this name later if you need to copy a season to create another.
  3. Type or select the Start Date for the season. The Start Date must be greater than or equal to the System Date.
  4. Type or select the End Date for the season. The End Date can be any future date and is not limited by the forecast window.
  5. Enter the offset value for each room type and day of the week. If you have already created a season, you can use the Copy From menu to copy an existing season's values.
    1. Enter the offset values in the first field. The value populates each day of the week.
    2. Press the Tab key to navigate to each day of the week to edit each value, if needed.
  6. Click Save.

Editing Seasons

You can edit a future season (with a Start Date after the System Date). When you edit a current season, G3 RMS splits the season and you can edit only the future dates. You can't edit past seasons.
  1. Click Edit for the season that you want to edit.
  2. Change the Season Name, if needed.
  3. Type or select a new Start Date for the season, if needed. To be changed, the Start Date must be greater than or equal to the System Date.
  4. Type or select a new End Date for the season, if needed. The End Date can be any future date and is not limited by the forecast window.
  5. Type new offset values for the required room type and day of the week.
  6. Click Save.

Deleting Seasons

You can completely delete a future season (with a Start Date after the System Date). When you delete a current season, G3 RMS splits the season and deletes only future dates. You can't delete past seasons. G3 RMS deletes past seasons based on the data retention policy.
  1. Click to delete next to the appropriate season.
  2. Click OK to confirm the deletion.

Best Practices

  • Room type offsets are not required for all room types. Add them only where needed.
  • For any room types that you want to price equally to the Base Room Type, leave the default fixed offset with a 0.00 value. If you do not enter any offsets, G3 RMS prices all room types in a Room Class the same.
  • G3 RMS only uses offsets for Room Class evaluations. Offsets have no impact on results when you run a Run-of-House evaluation.
  • G3 RMS uses the offsets for the group's arrival date to determine the recommended rate.

Understand that Offsets Do Not Adjust the Floor or Ceiling Values

G3 RMS adds the offsets to its Base Room Type rate. Offsets do not adjust the Floor or Ceiling values for the Room Class itself, as set up in Ceiling/Floor .

Add Offsets for Double, Triple, etc. Occupancy

In Function Space Evaluations, G3 RMS bases the recommended guest room rate for the Base Room Type on a single occupancy type. If you want to use offsets for double, triple, etc. occupancy, add the offsets to the system’s rate.

Understand the Impact of Edits on Saved Evaluations

If you have already saved group evaluations, edits to offsets may impact existing evaluations. However, the results in saved evaluations will not change unless you run a re-evaluation. Use the Re-Evaluate option from the Function Space Evaluations page to see if the system’s recommendations have changed due to your setup changes.

Scenarios

In the offset setup example below, the group recommended rate for the STD-King and STD-Lakeview King room types are offset from the Base Room Type rate in the same Room Class:

Room TypeOffset ValuesGroup Recommended Rate
STD-Double Not Applicable200
STD-KingFixed Offset = 25 single225
STD-Lakeview KingFixed Offset = 50 single250

If you don't include the Base Room Type in a group evaluation, the group's recommended rate uses the offsets for the included room types. In the following example, the Base Room Type (STD-Double) isn't selected, but the other room types in the Room Class (STD-King and STD-Lakeview King) are included:

Room TypeOffset ValuesNumber of Group Rooms RequestedGroup Recommended Rate
STD-Double Not ApplicableNot requested350 (not used)
STD-KingFixed Offset = 25 single20375
STD-Lakeview KingFixed Offset = 50 single10400
