Base Room Type

For the Base Room Type that you define for each Room Class, G3 RMS calculates the Recommended Rate in an evaluation (and using your Ceiling/Floor price range). In a Room Class level evaluation, the system uses Offsets to calculate the rate for other room types in the same Room Class.

The Base Room Type icon identifies these room types throughout G3 RMS.

Setup Steps

  1. Click and then Configuration.
  2. Click Base Room Type.
  3. Select the Base Room Type for each Room Class. You must select one Base Room Type for each Room Class.
  4. Click Save.

Best Practices

Select the Largest Capacity Room Type

We recommend selecting the room type with the largest capacity to be the Base Room Type in the Room Class. This room type has the most reservations and the most data to use as a basis for the Room Class decisions.

Consider the Room Class Order

The Base Room Type page lists your Room Classes from the Room Class setup, following the same hierarchical order that you established there. Generally, the Base Room Type is the room type that represents the lowest rate for its Room Class. However, if you set up negative offsets, it does not necessarily have to be the lowest.

Reconfigure If You Change Your Room Class Setup

If you make changes to your Room Class setup (for example, moving a room type from one Room Class to another), you are prompted to reconfigure your Base Room Types.

Reconfigure Rates if You Change the Base Room Type

If you change the Base Room Type setup for a Room Class, G3 RMS removes its Ceiling/Floor values and Offsets. You must then re-configure these values for the Room Class.
